Stamping for kids?

My kid receives an approval notice, but in that notice the INS doesn't ask the kid to go to local INS. My question is: before the kid receives the real greencard, can he/she go abroad? Can I also ask for stamping on the kid's passport? I am planning to leave this country in a short time. That is why I am concerned, as the approval notice itself cannot be used as visa, or re-entry permit.

At the time when I went for my stamping, I asked the lady in the INS counter the same question. She told me to bring my kid for stamping. Because the logic may be how are they going to get the photo needed in the plastic card plus in other Service Centers (<>VSC), it takes about a year to get the card.

Is it required to do Stamping for kids

My son got welcome notice along with our approval letters.

After two weeks he got green card.

Is it required to go for stamping for him?
