Stamping Experience in San Francisco INS ?

Hello,

Could someone, who has recently been there for GC passport stamping,
please share his/her experience? Basically, I want to know:

(1) How early should we go, 5am, 6am or 7am, etc? How long does the
whole stamping process take, roughly?
(2) I heard that we can stand in the appointment line. Is that true?
(3) We have a 2-month baby and we are planning to bring her with us.
Can we bring her in (she was born in Fremont, CA 2 month ago. So
she is US citizen)? Any procedure/document for her?

Appreciate your help!

No Problem at all at SFO

I was there @7:00AM and there was 70-75 People in front of me. It took me around 2 hours to get the passport stamped. The INS staff is very co-operative. Enjoy your GC.

Hi, GC_California:

Thank you for your help! I have some more questions:

(1) did you stand in the appt line or in the regular/walk-in line?
(2) if you took the appt line, did the security guard give you some trouble?
(3) since we have a 2-month baby, do you know/are you aware if they
would allow us to bring her in (she was born in Fremont,CA)? We could
not find a nanny to take care of her for just one day.

Appreciate your help very much!

From my experience - they do not allow you to stand in apptm line, they send you to the general one at the Washington St entrance.
Unfortunately there isn't any priority for "approvals", so you have to go through the same line / time as people who are there just to ask questions on application forms.

I would suggest going either really early - like 5-6am to be in the beginning of the line - or go after 11-12, because at that time they stop issuing tickets w/numbers to everybody except "approvals" (you can get a ticket till 2pm).

In any event plan to spend couple of hours there. I think they will let your baby to get in - there were several people with kids when I was there, although I do not envy those poor creatures who sit there for hours, crying all the time.
