Stamping at another location

Currently I'm in NJ and expecting the 485 approval anytime. I might move to down south on a project assignment but will maintain an apartment in NJ, so technically under the same processing center VSC.

MY QUESTION:
If I get my 485 approval while I'm in South then can I get my passport stamped in one of the closest INS center in South or do I need to come all the way to NJ with my family and get the passport stamped.

Gurus please advice.

The 485 approval notice clearly mentions the INS office and its address on it where you need to get the stamping done and is usually the closest to your 485 filing address.

Hi Usha

Here is the thing,
If i were you I will go to the local INS office with the approval notice first, If they say you need to go to the address which is in approval notice, then i will go to the address in the notice.

How is it...

But i don't change the address when i have an option.

I know a person who got the stamp in a different office than the one that the notice said. Anyway this was in the same state....I don't know in a different one.
Good luck,
Malda
