Stamping and Social security connection

I did my stamping today in Newark.

What is the next step while we wait for the actual card?
I heard that we have to go to SSN office and do something. CAn some one elaborate on it

Yes you will have to goto your nearest SSN office and show your SSN card which is saying Valid for work only.

You ask them to remove that clause since you are permanent resident now.

They will issue you new card with the same number in 5-10 days.

Do they send the new card by post? or should we collect it in person?

I am in the process of moving in a couple of weeks time

Should I do the social security stuff immediately or can I do it after I have moved?

Is there any time limit befoer which this should be done
 
I only have the passport stamping. I havent got the plastic GC yet.

1. Can I go to the SSN office with passport stamping to request the New SSN card?

2. Will the NEW SSN card have the same SSN number as before or new SSN number?

some SSn offices accept stamping as a proof , others dont

mine did not and asked to wait till physical card arrives

so call/visit
 
Can my wife change job or do double job once our passport gets stamped? (She has her own H1 visa & she is my derivative/dependent).

Hi Givemegeecee,

Can you please tell what was your RFE for your wife ?

Even I am in the same boat.. My Husband is a primary applicant. He got approved. But , mine is still waiting ? I am little concerned .. can you please provide me more details what was your wife RFE ?

Yes she can do as many jobs as she wants. Also remember after GC approval (I am assuming you are talking about the I-551 stamp and not the H1 visa stamp) her H1 became invalid. She and you are a permanent resident (immigrant) now and all non-immigrant status's are invalid.

Should she notify her employer? Mine is already notified as they are the one who sponsored me. They are actually the one that sent me the email message approval which they monitor.

What will my wife tell her employer?
