SSN question

Hello everybody,
We're winners of the DV2014, and planning to move this summer.
Years ago I lived in the US under F1 visa (studied for a Masters degree). While studying, I worked a few hours a week in the school administration, so I was issued a SSN.
Does anyone know whether the SSN which I'll get now will be the same as my old one?
Thanks a lot!

Yes, you will use that same SSN. All you need to do is go to the SSA and get them to issue a new card.

Have you activated your GC already?

Hi, pls i want to know how long it generally takes to be issued SSN after entry ?? I've been in the US for almost a week now and my host keeps telling me they will send it

Personally, I would not wait for the ssn if you are relying on getting it automatically based on selecting that option.

Not having the ssn is a major pain in the butt, and enough people don't get it fast enough, that I would advise a trip to the local ssa office.

If I visit the SSA office to apply for the SSN card, how long would it take to get it? I already have a SSN issued 12 years ago.

A couple of weeks, maybe a bit more. But in general knowing the number is the main thing, so the waiting period for the replacement card is not a big deal.
