SSN Number

Hi,

I recently got transferred to h1 visa from h4...When I tried to apply for SSN,the SSN database has not been updated after 2 weeks of my h1 approval and it still shows H4.Is there anyother particular bcis customerservice number other than the one mentioned in the bcis website ,I can call and ask them to update my status in the SSN office.

It takes a few weeks for BCIS to update the database that is accessed by SSA. Wait for a few more weeks.

I am in a similar problem. had a change of status from F2 to F1 but the change does not reflect in immigration database accessible to SSA. Could you get your SSN? if yes, how?

i approached immigration and was told that they do not update any status in their database and continue to show what status u entered US in. so, here is a deadlock sitauation where SSA wants to see F1 and immigration will not update to F1

i am in same boat as u all. its been 5 weeks now and i get the same resonse database not updated. Did u guys have some luck.

Hello,

I got my SSN just a day back. The BCIS database is not updated (that is what I was told when I personally visited the local BCIS). In my case it was change to F1, so according to the latest policy of SSA, they verified my status from SEVIS and issued me SSN. You might be able to find some policy related to your case at SSA website.
 
Also, you can call up BCIS national service centre, and when someone attends the call ask for an immigration officer. Explain your situation to him/her and he/she might be able to throw some light on updation of database.
 
Hi wait-to-GC, could you please let me know after how many weeks did you finally get your SSN# and did you just wait for the SSN# to arrive or had to specifically do anything for this? It has been 5 weeks since I applied for my wife's SSN and she has a job offer which she has to take and so would appreciate any help.
