SSN for wife - after EAD or after GC?

My wife\'s and my I485 were filed on Aug 28, 2001. We have EAD and AP approved. I heard that with her EAD I will be able to get SSN for my wife . But the question I have is : If I get her SSN card now, will I have to go back after GC approval to replace the card again (because of SSN card stating - permitted to work with authorization only). OR should I wait till our GC is approved (which is just 2-3 months away) and then go for getting my wife\'s SSN?

I think, if your wife is going to start working in the near future then you would need to apply for her SSN now. Otherwise, you can wait for her SSN till 485 adjudication.

If you get her SSN now, then the answer to your question is YES, you will have to go back to S.S. office to get the card replaced after G.C. stamping. Infact, this is applicable to you also.
