SSN for H4

I know this topic was discussed many times. I was wondering if someone can
let me know what I should do ? I know in some states they don\'t issue SSN for an H4.
What should I do if I have to fill up SSN related information (eg. Medical Benefits etc.,)
for the spouse. thx in advance.

Get a TX ID

Visit the local IRS office and get the TAX ID

This TAX ID is called ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number).
