Hi,
We got our plastic cards recently after arriving in US in mid-Jan after successful CP.
I was on H1 so I already have SSN. My wife doesn't have one as she was on H4 (until before GC).
Now, do we have to go and apply in person at local SS office for my wife to receive a SSN? Or INS automatically notifies SS to send SSN for newly become immigrants?
The confusion is due to following:
There was a question on DS Part-2 form whether the applicant needs a SS after GC and stuff like that...we answered Yes in there.
Question:
So what is better: waiting for SSN in mail or going to local SS office in person...
Could someone pls share their experiences...
Thanks for ur time,
Regards.
