I've applied for SSN recently after switching my status from F2 to F1. MY local SS office hv sent the docs to LA - INS office for varification, as their system is not updated yet with my new Status.
Surprisingly, local SS office were informed by LA-INS that my status is still F2. That means, LA-INS office databese is not updated while my F1 application was processed in TX-INS.

Any QUICK suggestions what shud I do? I'll appreciate!

H4 to F1 but not changed on INS records: HELP!

I too got my status changed recently from H4 to F1 but when I went to get my SSN at the local SSN office, they said my status is still being reflected as H4. Any information on this would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,
I have the same problem too. I changed over from F2 to H1 and apparently the SSN office does not have the updated status and my status is still reflected as F2. I was told by the SSN officer that they could request INS for my updated status information but it would take around 2 months for me to get my SSN. Instead, I was wondering if I could get it updated in the local INS office. If anybody has had a similar problem pls let me know what you did to obtain ure SSN.

Folks!

Hope is a good dream in the business and we live with it.

In my case...after I was refused by local SS office (i.e. no update news)...I requested them to resend the paper to DHS (Previously INS) office. But I also provided them a copy of the approval letter ("Notice of Action") isssued by DHS while approving my F2 to F1 status. The letter shows the "Receipt #" of my applied case and shows "The case has been approved" including the original new "I-94". I also included the web-print out of "Check-Status" from DHS website, which shows the case approval and the receipt number again.

Does it look too complicated to you???

I requested the SS office to "circle" all these specific info ("Receipt#", "Case has been approved") (and she was generous to do it) before resending the docs.

And guess what? It worked.

Don't give up...your hope will take you to your dream...keep trying.
Also let us know how it worked.
Goodluck!

thanks for the update...but it would be really helpful if you could tell us how long it took for you to get ure SSN
