SS updated - How to verify it's been really done?

Hello-

After my naturalization ceremony a couple of weeks ago, the Social Security people were there to assist us in updating our Social Security records to say "citizen" instead of "alien". We just filled out the standard social security form selecting the option that says "US citizen".

At that point they said I should wait two weeks to receive a new Social Security card by mail (same number obviously).

I just received the Social Security card by mail. Nothing different from the old card. How do I verify that their records say that I am a citizen now?

PS: The Social Security cards are still issued on toilet paper-quality paper. Sad!

You can call them and check. They will ask some personal info to make sure they are talking to you and tell you.

I didn't register to vote after the ceremony because I was 3 from the last in line.
(almost 60 people ahead of me and only one guy doing the voter registration)
I'll do it at my county election office in a few weeks.

There was no social security office guy present, so I assume I'll have to
to the local social security office to update my status. I just need to bring
my ID and my new naturalization certificate, is this correct? :) (which mean
I'll have to wait until the certificate comes back with the passport) Thanks
in advance! :)

yes, go to local office and depending on who you get, you may have to fill the form to ask for change or they may look at your certificate (or passport) and make the change right there. You may get new card (Though you can refuse the card if your old one does not say anything like "Valid for work with authorization".
