Just a quick question.................i have recently been married to a USA citizen and im currently filling out the necessary forms, basically what i need to know is do i need to have the medical form filled by a doctor? i hear that because of the waiting time for the i-485 interview to file all the other forms and wait until the notice for the interview to have the medical done?and also, is it correct that i get an SS number with my EAD approval?...i need the SS number so my wife can sign the bills over to both our names

Although you can do a medical later after you receive a RFE from INS, it does not take much longer than usual to do it now. Assuming that your I130 approval comes before 12 months a medical done now will still be valid when your 485 becomes current.
SSN has to be applied with SSA (see the white telephone book) but you need a approved EAD in your hand before you can apply for a SSN.
However you can get a ITIN (see IRS seb site) which can be used in subsitution for SSN.

ok

Ok thanks Jaxen, i appreciate your help , i think i got most things cleared up now..just confusing with SOOO much papework and forms

Hi,

The TIN is only for tax purpose. It will not be a substitute for SSN. After getting your EAD you can get your SSN it will be different number.
