SS# After Approval - Any Idea

NO

I checked with SSN office. As long as your SSN card doesn\'t have " Not eligible to work", you are fine. Otherwise, you will need to apply for a card (NOT a new #).

I went to SSN office few days back to remove the restrictions on the card

This way, if you want to change employer, its enough, if you provide a copy of the SSN and ur drivers license and no need to provide a copy of ur GC (u have to provide copy of GC if u have the restrictions \'Allowed to Work only with INS Authorizations\' in ur SSN card).

Fam, what was the restriction on your SSN ?

I have a restriction saying : "Not authorized for work".

I got the SSN when I came here on H1B

So, there was a restriction on the SS Card which says something like \'Can work only with INS Authorization\'. But, since I got my passport stamped, I got those wordings removed by reapplying at the SSA office. It doesn\'t matter, if the restriction is still there, but as I said in my earlier posting, you dont have to provide ur GC when u change employer, if the wordings / restriction is removed from the SS card.

Hope this helps.

I got my SSN on F-1 status, my wife got hers on H4 status. Both our SSN cards are clean.
