spouse's EAD renewal question

My wife's EAD expires in March 2006 and she is currently in India on a 3 month vacation. I want to know if I can apply to renew her EAD, when she is out of country.

Or should we wait until she returns during January 2006. In this case, she may not get her EAD before April 2006.

I think EAD can be applied for when she is not present (unlike AP) - BUT she needs to sign the EAD application form -- so if you can get a form signed by her, you can mail it in.
