Yes, it's possible. Actually some of us are on the same boat.
My family got their EADs ahead mine. Looks like the IIO is waiting for a decission on the I-140 before issuing an EAD to the petitioner.
Was told it's not unusual, and seems that the BCIS consider expedite the realitves approval as a good faith token, intended to ease the burden of being on a single salary.
Either way, if the petitioner's I-140 is denied, everything is tied to it, and will be denied likewise.
Your spouse can apply for an iEAD at the local office meanwhile.
