Sponsoring self as a visitor

I would like to know this for an unmarried friend who wants to apply for a visitor's visa. She is sponsoring herself as there is no close family in the US. What kind of funds will she have to show for this visa? She is working and has strong ties in India. She is visiting friends and also exploring higher studies opportunities(absolutely not planning to overstay or such).

Any one with similar experience that can share their info? Will she need to give details of everybody she visits?
What are the chances of getting this visa?

She has to overcome 214(b). Simple as that.

Since I wasnt sure what 214(b) was I seached and found this site from another post in this forum

Every non-immigrant applicant (sans H-1B/4, L-1A/B and K-1/2/3) has to overcome 214(b). So all those applicants who do get a non-immigrant visa, get it under similar circumstances
