sponsoring parent for GC question

I am a US Citizen. Filed I-130 for my parents who are here on tourist visa. Did not/have not filed I-485. Their six month tourist visa expires in April. It looks like their I-130 will only be approved in summer, tourist visa (first six months) will expire before that. What should we do.

1. can we file for visa extension while I-130 is being processed.
2. can i file for I-485 right now before six month visa experiences

They are eligible to file I-485 based on an already submitted I-130. Include the I-130 receipt when you file your I-485,
 
Like Ari said you can file I-485 while I-130 is pending.

Also, I don't know if is necessary, but you can file for tourist visa, and while the I-130 application is pending they are maintaining their status...I doubt it is going to be approved since you filed the I-130...but with CIS where always left hand does't know what the right hand does, everything is possible. ;)

Anyway the easiest way out is to file a.s.a.p. for I-485.
