Hello,

I am already here in US and my Both Parents are permanent Residents. Is there a way they can sponsor me ? and how long does it take for me to get the GC and can I stay in US at that period??

Assuming you are unmarried and 21 or older, the wait is around 7-8 years, and you can't stay in the US during that waiting period unless you have some other legal status separately from the green card petition.

If you're married, they can't sponsor you at all without at least one of them having citizenship.

Thank you all for replying...I am just confused with this whole thing...

Will I be able to adjust my status from F-1 (Student) when my parents petition the file for GC ? or do I have to go back to my home country ?

I am over 21 and unmarried at present but will get married next year or so...how will that affect the process?

what are your expert thoughts?

You may AOS to a dual intent visa; H1b is acceptable.

Only USCs can sponsor married children; if you marry before one becomes a citizen, the petition for you is voided and you start all over again.

You can adjust status only if you are in the US legally 7 or 8 years from now. Otherwise you'll have to pursue the GC process through a consulate in your country of citizenship (or another country if you have legal residence there).

If you marry before the sponsoring parent becomes a citizen, that will nullify the petition. Marry after they get citizenship, and your case goes into the slower 3rd preference category which has a wait of about 10 years (but those 10 years would be from when the petition was initially filed, not 10 years after you get married).
