I am a US citizen and I want to sponsor my parents who are currently in US on visitor visa. Do I need to file I-130 and adjustment of status (I-485) together or should file only I-30 and wait for it to get approved? Can they stay in US till I-130 is approved?

You can file I-130 and 485 together. I had the same case for my parents . You will require following documents
1) Your birth certificates
2) Your passport copy
3) Parents birth certificate
4) Parents i-94 cards
5) Get their medical examinations done at one of the authorized centers and attach the report in the first filing itself
6) Your tax filing for last three years. Your income should be above poverty line which if iam not wrong is atleast 28k for a family of three kids + 4k for each member

If you are filing i-130 and 485 together, then they can stay in the country till their GC is approved

1. Is it faster and better to get GC in India after I-130 is approved? How long is it taking in Delhi consulate?
2. How long is I-485/ adjustment of status in US taking?
3. If they go back after I-94 expires can they comeback to US on tourist visa (which is valid till 2020) before immigration process is still pending and consular waiting is too long?

If they go back after the I-94 expires, that would be an overstay, which could result in revocation of the tourist visa.

If they go back before the I-94 expires, they may be unable to use the tourist visa because of the I-130. Note that the US normally doesn't allow more than 6 months total stay with a tourist visa in a 12-month period, so if they spend 5+ months on the visa they'll probably have to wait several months to enter the US again.
