Folks,

what are the steps needed by a USC to apply for GC for parents who are "already in the country on visitor visa" ?

Roughly how long is it taking - 3/4 months?

I apologize if this topic has already been discussed. Could you please post a link to the original post? Or post a link that describes all documents and steps needed? Also if some certificates are needed from home country then what should be the text of those docs?

Thanks

------------------USCIS may question about Intent as the intent at the time of coming to US was Visitor.

------ 5-6 months USCIS must approve I-130 [/B](I am not expert in Family based) Post in Family based threads.)

-----------Search the Family based thread. I think you should file I-130 for them and they should go out of US and they will attend Interview in US consulate out of US then get Immigrant visa and enter US as immigrant and will get GC stamp at POE .
Or post a link that describes all documents and steps needed?

From you I-130+your G325 4 copies with your 1 photo+ G325 of your father and his 1 photo+ G325 of your mother her 1 photo. copy of bith certicate of father, copy of birth certificate of mother, copy of marriage certificate of your father+ Documentary evidence to establish that they are your mother and father + copy of your UP passport or copy of your Naturalization certificate.
Once file I-130 with USCIS then after I-130 is approved they they send it to NVC and NVC will ask you to send Affidavit of support and fee and once you send Affidavit of support and fee to NVC they will send it to US consulate and US consulate will inform them by letter (to address out of US) to go for medicals and police clearence then they will inform interview date with consulate and if approved they will get Immigrant visa and can enter US in 6 months from the visa date as immigrants to US.

-----read above.
Thanks

GC For Parents

Copper1...

that's very encouraging to hear. When was this? So, it appears that they didn't have to leave the country and get it stamped from their home consulate as mentioned by Ginnu.

Can you please confirm the document list?

Also, can someone write the exact language of the birth certificates; marriage certificate; and affidavits if original certificates not available.

Thanks
