Sponsor for DV 2009 winner!

Hi everybody!

I have read on this forum, the need for DV winner to have a sponsor in the US or be able to show the authority that they can take care of themselves without the need for public found.

I know very few people in the US, they are not permanent residents (mostly students) and they are not family. can I use them??
can I sponsor myself?? If yes do you have an Idea of how much money I should have in my account!!!???? or other information related to this matter!?

that depends on how many people in your family are coming to the States with you. Do search the forum, you'll find all the info.

Check the poverty guidelines. They can give you some idea about what is usually considered to be enough by the officer in the embassy. However, if you are likely to find a job fast in the US (because of your education/experience/English knowledge), then also fewer amounts are accepted.

Thank you guys!! I will have a good look through this. I have to say the selection is hard, people who usually win never speak about the hard bit!

they just say! "I won the DV lottery so i am going to the US next week as if it was automatic!"

Hopefully I will get through this Good luck everybody!

Heh Heh, I guess that is true...once you get the visa all the angst and stress just disappears. But you can see from reading this forum that everyone goes through the same issues and problems, you are not alone and even though it may take over your life for months and months (18 months in our case) it will all be worth it once you have a successful interview.
