I petitioned my mom, I am a USC, she is scheduled for an interview back home next month. I am the primary sponsor and I used my husband's income in filing the Affidavit od Support because I was short 2k with my income last year for the affidavit of the support. My husband lost his job 2 days ago. should I call NVC and let them know? I dont have no body that will co sponsor. Does anybody who have the same situation like me? Please share what should I do? Any suggestions will be appreciated!

You can use assets to offset the income requirement. You're $2K short, so you need 5 times that much ($10,000) combined from you, your mother, and your husband to supplement your income.

Thank you for your response. I do not have that amount.Should i inform NVC that my husband lost job. I am sure that we will meet the guidelines for this year even he lost his job.

If you tell them about your husband's lack of a job without providing updated information to show how you can meet the financial requirements, that will put the case on the path to ruin.

When you tell them about his job loss you need to file a new I-864 simultaneously and provide proof of extra income or assets to make up the difference. Don't send it to NVC; have your mother bring it to the interview.

The $10,000 of assets doesn't have to be in cash. Does your mother own a home or car where she lives now? Do you have jewelry that would be appraised for thousands of dollars?

Yea i dont want to put my mom's case into ruin and be banned forever. It's better to be honest at the time of interview. She has a business but she put it under my brother's name. I have some jewelry and one of our car is paid off maybe it will help. Do you think it will help if my sister who has money help my mom to give her some money and put it in the bank?

In case i have a co sponsor (friend) does she have to meet the requirements for my family also in Affidavit of Support? (we are 4, me , husband ,my child and my mom)?

Is more than one car in your name? Do you have significant jewelry other than your wedding rings?

No ... when it comes to money in the bank, they want to see multiple bank statements going back for months, because they want to see that it's the applicant's own money, not just temporary money put there for the sake of the I-864.

She would need income based on a household size of at least 5 ... you 4 + herself. Not just enough income to make up the difference for your shortfall ... but enough for the whole 5 people (plus more if she's married or has dependent children) by herself, because she doesn't qualify as your household member.

you have been so helpful, i thank you so much. i feel like im breaking into pieces. sad to say my mom can not come then. there is no way that i can get a sponsor and to provide what is needed.
he will be getting unemployment checks, it wouldnt help right?
what if he gets a job before the interview? it would'nt help also right because he has to be on the same job for one yr?

Unemployment checks won't help. They want proof of income that is expected to continue for the long term. But if he gets another job before the interview that solves the problem. Even though it's a new job, it's still OK given that he already had enough income for a long enough time when filing the first I-864A. He should provide a new job letter for your mother to carry to the interview; a new I-864 isn't needed.

If it doesn't look like he's going to get a job soon, you could ask your mother to request a delay of the interview.

Is your mother healthy enough to work in a job that provides health insurance? Or young enough (under 60) to get affordable health insurance on her own? If not, how do you plan to cover her medical expenses, given that you and her don't have $10,000 of cash or saleable assets, and she won't qualify for Medicare or Medicaid for at least 5 years?

we are hoping that he can get a job before the interview, i think that's the solution or i will call my mom to delay the interview so that way my husband has more time to find another job. thank you so much for your time sir.

If the question is related to your mother's GC sponsorship, yes you can ask in the same thread.

However, it appears that you're not capable of handling your mother's medical expenses in the US.
