Sponser's passport recently expired how does it impact applicant's B visa interview. My friend is sponsoring his parents for visit to US on a tourist visa. His passport has expired 3 months back. His parents have interview in 20 days. He was wondering does he need to renew his passport before his parent's interview date.

Does anybody has experience with Passport renewal process at NYC Indian Consulate?

Also can DS-156 be changed after the interview date has been scheduled? He wants to change the date of travel on DS-156 and also the duration of stay.
 
Your friend's passport's expiry should have no bearing on his parents' B-2 applications.
The DS-156 can be amended/updated prior to the point it is given over to the consul for adjudication.
 
How can DS-156 be updated after filling online

Thanks TripleCitizen. I was wondering how to change DS-156 if it was already filled online. On the online form it is not letting editing/changing of the pdf file. If a change needs to be made does it need to be done using a pen or will it need to be done via computer.

Another question is that if the duration of time of stay was filled out as 4 months and it needs to be changed to 2 months, if this is done by pen then it would be visible that a change was made and the officer might ask other questions. My friends parents want to go back early due to family obligations and want to change their duration of stay.
