Spoke to IIO ND-OCT/2000 - Status Pending

Few minutes back I spoke to IIO, she told me that my case is pending, I asked her about, whether it is assigned to a officer, she told me that she will not be able to tell me that.

What does pending mean, does it mean it is waiting on some information?

Please shed some light.

RE-FP FOR WIFE 06/25/01
TALKED TO IIO ON 8/6/01. SHE SAID THAT THEY ARE PROCESSING OCT1,2001 CASES AND WONDERS WHY IT HAS BEEN NOT ALOTTED TO AN OFFICER. TOLD ME TO WAIT FOR COUPLE OF MONTHS. WHEN I ASKED FOR MY WIFE\'S FP AS SHE HAS DONE IT AGAIN ON 06/25/01, IIO TOLD ME THAT, THAT COULD BE THE REASON FOR FILE NOT ALOTTED TO AN OFFICER. SHE ALSO MENTIONED THAT FILE MIGHT BE ON WAIT FOR 60 DAYS. SHE DIDN\'T GAVE MUCH INFORMATION AND ASKED ME TO WAIT FOR COUPLE OF MONTHS.

ALSO, MY I-140 IS APPROVED FOR CP AND MAY BE POSSIBLE THAT FILE HAS BEEN TRANSFERED TO NVC.

ANYBODY IN SAME SITUATION? PLEASE ADVISE. I DON\'T KNOW WHAT IS 60 DAYS ON THE SHELF TERMS MEAN?

I think i am in the same situation as you are.

I called INS last month and the IIO told me that my case is pending. I tried to ask the same question that you did (is it with an officer?) and she gave me the same response (She cannot give anymore info although she said that it is being worked on). Since then i have been trying to find out what this \'pending\' means. I don\'t know what it means and i don\'t think anybody knows for sure. One of the possibilities posted here was that they might have asked for a CIA check.
In any case, i am glad i found someone in a similar situation as mine(may be i am being selfish here). Hopefully we will get through this quickly. Quick question pv. What is your Priority Date?

Can you tell me what is CIA check? Is it the check by FBI for
clean records etc?

Last time when I spoke to IIO, got the answer that it is "Pending".

I assumed that they haven\'t started anything if it is pending...
that is not assigned to officer or anything....case still on shelf
to be picked up.

Previous call to IIO, she told me that they have received my FP from FBI. It was all clear. I don\'t know why it is pending.

I called my lawer, he told me that it is normal some cases are approved faster than others.

My case is a straight forward case it is in EB2, no company change or company name change.

God knows, when it will be approved.

        My I140 approval is for AOS not for CP, but once I applied for approval from US conculate in mexico using "attroney certified I140", but I got a reply it cannot be done unless we apply for I827. We didnot apply I827.

I also talked to IIO last week, my case is pending and no info whether its with an officer or not.
RIR/EB2, RD:07/10/00, ND:07/19/00, EAC-00224, Other, No RFE

What is INS tel# ?

Hi,
I\'ve been trying to contact INS with 1-802-527-4913 but in vain. Is that the correct number ? How long typically one has to wait before you get to talk to an IIO ?
 
Once you get the line, AVM will tell you an approximate wait time

By the way this approximation algorithum is stolen from the state goverment of Rajasthan office of all BABU\'s

yeah pending could mean CIA check. I checked immigration-law.com and there was a discussion on CIA check. Normally a 485 application has FBI check(criminal check), CIA check(international security), and foreign consulate check(visa fraud check).

During 98-99 due to heavy backlogs they stopped waiting for CIA check(usually takes 60 days) to speed up processing and once the CIA came back with any negative report even after the approval, INS would start the GC revocation process.

It seems they recently started to do the CIA check before adjudication again as the cases are not taking that long

Case Pending ND 08/29/00

I spoke to IIO yesterday. My case is also Pending. IIO did not reveal the reason. She did not even tell me Whether case is assigned to Officer. Only thing she told me you may get approval in a month or two months. Probably IIO\'s Standard answer.
