HELLO EVERYONE

Once again i have a question. I started a similar thread but i didn't have all the infos so i'll try to simplify.I came from east africa (born in europe) and back home we don't have family names only first names. For instance on your passport you will have your first name +your father first name and your grandfather's first name.
Now things got complicated when i moved to france to continu my studies. My university took my father first name as my family name so all me degrees are under my father's first name as a family name. Same thing for my birth certificate and my e-dv.
But on my passport (and i think it will be the same for my police records later on) I have my father's first name + grandfathers first name.
To be on the safe side i metionned it in the forms under the question "other used names". By brother living in Canada tell's me not to worry cause this is DV so this means that the are used to deal with people from other cultures but i a m a bit worried...Do you think that since my e-dv +birth certificate+degres match they won't give me a hard time?????Or should i try to change everything (i don't think i can + case number low 2010EU00005xxx so i don't think i can change everything before the interview)Are there among you who successed the interview with similar cases. As usual i'll be waiting for your answers before taking a decisions.

In most European countries (you are stated you were born in Europe) will be a family name on the birth certificate and not just a first name...maybe in Africa it is normal, but if you were born in Europe that might be different...After all you have to fill out the place of birth!

dear bentlebee

So even if i was born in europe i don't have a european birth certificate cause i kept my paren't nationality. My parents went to our embassy and registered me.
Anyways to answer your question that many many people ask me we don't have family names. only first names for instance i dont know if you are a fan of atletics but if you take haile guebre selasse (he is the most famous ethiopian that is why i a m mentioning him) haile is his first name and guebre silasse his fathers first name see? And to answer your question what if you guys have the same first names the answer is you will have many people with similar first names less with similar first names +fathers first names and even less people with same first names +same fathers first names +same grandfathers first names. If that is the case you have there birth of date and place of birth, and mothers first name to identify them anyways even in europe you have people with same first names and family names right?that is not a big issue but we have one additional thing i personnaly can count up to 13 generation and give you my ancestors first names like kunta kinte in roots... Now that is something very special to us and maybe one positive thing in this very complicated very difficult-to-explain-to-non-east-african-story.

Interesting and thanks for the name lesson!:) I know this famous marathon runner and never knew that his name was because of what you describe.
But if you were born in Europe wasn't there a birth certificate made in the country of birth? Like where I'm from you have to go to city hall within 24 or 48 hours and register the new born. That is for every new born baby, and it has nothing to do where the parents come from. At that time your father, mothers name and yours will be written down and that is called a birth certificate. Even if they went to an embassy to register you shouldn't there be a paper trail of that?

Thanks again to answer you'all

i was born in Moscow in early 80's . My parents went home like 6 months afterwards. (they already lived there 2 years before my birth) Anyways back in the communist very rigid days i don't think russian made birth certificate for people coming from elsewhere. Anyways what my parents did is that they went to our embassy and registered me later on i had a certificate but like i said earlier my e-dv+degrees+birth certificate has exactly the same name .It is on my passport, and i beleive my police certificate from france will have that additional first name (my grandfather's)...I think i can change my passport but i don't know if i can do much for the police certificate...
