I am planning to make a trip to Toronto, Canada for 5 days.My flight is a direct flight from SFO to Toronto. The flights to Canada actually depart from and arrive to the domestic terminal in SFO.

Do I have to surrender my I94. When returning, I will be returning on my H1B. Where do I have to go through immigration to return to SFO. What are the additional documents that I need to carry.

I have an approved Advance Parole and an approved EAD.

US immigration officials sit at Toronto. Try not to give the I94 while going out. As soon as you complete the checkin process in toronto the hawks will be waiting.

I did a travel to Canada last month for a week. While going Airlines didn't take my I-94. While coming back immigration inspector didn't even ask my papers-neither H1, nor AP. He just did a port of entry stamp on my old I-94.Apart from this, I also heard that for trips less than month to Canada, they don't change I-94's. Hope this helps.
