SPAM: last updated date

Mine : April 2004 case, no RFE, no 2nd FP (1st expired long time ago)

I registered on BCIS website around 2 weeks ago. No change took place unitil today. The last updated date for 2 (adults) changed to 05/07/2004 (just the date, no change in the status), no change for the kid's case. Did not receive any email so far.

I did sent a fax couple of days ago reqesting them to issue 2nd FP notice.

Does this "last update" date mean anything?

Same for my husbands case. We replied to the RFE about 10 days back and status updated on 4/28 to RFE received. Last updated date changed to 4/28/2004. Yesterday both the date on both our cases changed to 5/4/2004. But the status is the same old.. Rfe received for my husband and FP results received for me. No emails either...
 
Much ado about nothing

USCIS a bad bureaucratic institution. Just like JIT report, most of their things are trash. I would not try to find too much meaning out of "last update date". My wife's last update date changed 02/04/2004 to 05/04/2004. And it seems lots of guys got their last-update-date changed to 05/04/2004. I don't know if that is anything meaningful at all. Whatever we try to guess out of it will be just a WILD guess. Only meaingful things to me is some sort of visible activity - FP, RFE, approval or denial.
 
Goodsaint what is your WAC number? If your WAC number is anywhere in Feb, March 02, I think you are going to have an early Christmas! :)

Other than that, it probably means someone pulled up your case to take a look. Eitherways it is good news! Worst case scenario is that you are not much worse than you were before.
 
I'm just getting more and more nervous with these touched dates. I keep having a nightmare in which they sent me a FP notice and the mailman delivered it to my neighbor.
It happened to a friend of mine, January case. His mailman always delivers his mail correctly except the FP notice. There were no changes on the CIS web site and were it not for his neighbor's good will, this guy would've missed his fingerprinting. I hated that story - now I look at my mailman like a maniac.
 
In most case it means nothing

I hate to discourage people but this has been my experience. I had not heard anythign about my case since last RFE in 2002 and last month I did an enquiry around mid April and the officer pulled out my case just to say that she has nothing for me and will initiate an enquiry. Now my last updated date is 04/20/04 and I believe it is just becaue officer pulled my case to look at it or may be just noted that I enquired, nothing interesting.
 
In my case (as well as that for my wife and son), the last update date changed twice without sending an email. I checked my account. The email tracking is definitely on, and the email address is definitely valid.

Anybody else faced this situation?

For me too. I have email enabled but I never get email.
 
did you check the junk mail folder? almost half of my important mails goes into junk mails folder. (i use this as an excuse :-) )
 
Dates changed for me too

I am 03-051. Earlier my "last updated date" was showing the day my FP were recd by INS. Today it changed to 5/7/2004. This is probably because I faxed an inquiry a few days back. Haven't recd any email so far.

The funny thing is that the dates for my already approved (2nd) EAD and AP also changed to 5/7/2004. Earlier they were showing the dates they were approved. Because of this reason, I wouldn't think the "last updated date" means anything worth being happy about...

What did you make fax enquiry for? Is it regarding I-485 or EAD or AP. The last updated date is changing because some one in USCIS is referring to it. Unless it is a bug, it must have something to do with your case. We do not know exactly what they are doing with the case, Sure they are doing something as you can see changes in the update.
 
In my case I received e-mails couple of times for each status update except the last one, when they updated status on 04/28/04 without sending an e-mail.

I don't have junk folder (spam blocker not enabled).

I sent the fax inquiry for my 485 arnd apr-04. my ead/ap were approved arnd feb, so no, the inquiry wasnt about them.

Status never updated to anything beyond app received...
on 5/3/2004 the status changed to fp results rcvd oct 2002..

goodsaint please keep us posted if you happen to get some mail...
