SPAM: H1B Passport Stamp Question

I know this is not the right forum for this question. But this is such a wonderful forum, that Im very hopeful of getting an answer here. And also, many of the people here would have been in such a situation before.


My brother is on valid H1B now. He did his MS in USA. His Passport still has F1 Stamp on it. Planning to go to India in early Feb. So, he would need a H1B stamp on the passport. The chennai US Consulate appointments are totally booked until March.

Can he go to Mexico or Vancouver for a passport stamp ? Do you know anyone who did that recently successfully or otherwise ?

My SIL got her H1 visa stmped successfully at Canada recently. She changed her status from F1 to H1. It seems there are no problems.
