My wife is travelling to india for 3 months via Paris on Air-India using AP. Will she need a transit visa? Any experience travelling to India on AP please?

Thanks in advance.

I travelled to India couple of weeks ago by AI via Paris. No visa is required for Paris, because you will not be allowed to get out of the plane    Cleaners will come and clean the aircraft while passengers are inside the aircraft.

AI sucks...I wonder why they still haven't closed that company and fire all the stupid Indian Govt. employees...

Yes AIR INDIA Sucks

I would suggest not to travel i had very bad experince
Air Hostes most beautiful in AIR INDIA:D

Hey ....brokenarrow

I would suggest you inquire with French embassy before you finalize the plan.

I travelled in March this yr. I was interested in Delta, but when i checked with French embassy, they said either i need valid visa in passport or green card. I was having AP that time and then i needed transit visa to go through Paris.
So I went via Amsterdam (NWA) and they don't need transit visa for indian nationals. so u better check with french emabssy properly.

thanks.

The main reason I took Air-India was becoz they are offering a good deal to Paris(coudnt believe it ...). And we are breaking the journey in Paris for a visit. And her H4 is expired, so was wondering what the deal was with AP? Whether those people at airport back home have heard of it at all or ...?

Anyway thanks for the heads-up.

u r welcome!

I am sure if the VISA expires and u don't have greencard, you definitely need Transit visa in Paris. In india, while you come back, they know about AP and u will not have any problem. But u might be stopped in Paris....

If you are planning for a break journey, you need visa. Don't ask questions which are contradictory to each other, you didn't say any thing abt. break journey in your first question.

sorry for the confusion ....

ar888,

apprecaite ur reply. I wanted to keep it simple but got carried away .... anyway ...

My wife and me are going to Paris on Air-India and break for 10 days. We do have Schengen visa valid for one month. The I am headin back to US and she continues to India, stay for 3 months and will be back. All this on AP (my H1 and her H4 expried..). Hence my original simplified question "Will she need a transit visa".

The question actually is "WILL SHE NEED A AIRPORT TRASIT VISA WHILE COMING BACK, BECOZ HER H4 EXPRIED AND SHE HAS AP" Didnt strike to me to ask them when I was getting the visitor's visa.

Thanks again.

She doesn't need 'Transit Visa' (assuming she has a direct flight to Newark, via Paris, and is not getting down at Paris).

Do we need transit visa if we travel through Franfurt ?

How about if my Connection is via Frankfurt...?
Did any one fly via Frankfurt to India (for connecting flight only)

Any experience shared is valuable ?

Transit visa required ...

I went to French consulate today and got the Schengen visa extended to cover airport transit. They said that if you are travelling on AP, then u need transit visa. POINT.

Beware that Air-India may not check that you have this visa, but u will end up in trouble at Paris. Passport control is effective throughout Schengen states as per France consulate.

Luckily I noticed it and got my wife visa changed from 3 months to 6 months to cover her entire travel dates.

Good wait, if you using AP, suggest u contact german consulate by e-mail. That is very effective. I got a reply back from France consulate in two hours.

Good Luck.

News to me, you won't even get down from the flight in Paris (If you are flying AI). Why do they need transit visa and how do they check?

You do not need a transit visa for Paris or Frankfurt if you are not leaving the airport. Your baggage will be checked in all the way to India and all you have to do is proceed to your flight connection. It does not matter what flight you take..the basic rule is that you do need a visa if you are merely connecting and not leaving the "Transit" area.

brokenarrow,

how long does it take to get the transit visa. My friend is travelling through Paris on AI next week (ie; Wednesday)!!! Alerted him after reading this posting and he is now worried.
