Spain

The French consider it as rude. A friend of mine, from a french speaking
country, once had a hard time with a French official when he use english
while in fact he was fluent in French.

I guess I have to ask a Spanish person. I would speak Spanish with them for sure, but writing is a bit different in my opinion. Thanks! I know now.

I actually like Europeans a lot. The thing that shocked me was that this person was pretty rude in my opinion. I just wanted to clarify that I do not need a GC for sure. I'm hearing a lot that people at consulates treat people with just RTD really bad. It kind of sucks. :(

Yes, and for someone who works in the consulate that person who replied to you has quite poor English.

Dude americans are the nicest people compared to Europeans snobs.

Ok, wantmygcnow, aren't you a moderator who is supposed to monitor the expressions on this forum and not allow any sort of racial/ethnic/national, etc. remarks? How is it that you yourself talk about any group in a disrespectful way? I understand that you may have had bad experience with some of europeans but as a moderator on the forum, you have to remain neutral and be an example for others.
Secondly, I am not a dude.

What slurs did you read about europeans doctor?
As a european, I'll attest to what has been said. They are rude to non GC holders.
I am lucky to have one of my parents holding a EU passport therefore I get the Schengen Visa quite easily but still can't wait for the US passport day to come.

The french and the austrians have been my worst expereiences. I will never again spend any of my hard earned $$$ there.

Dudette? This is a free board, anyone can say anything. As long as I don't say YOU THE EUROPEAN its ok :)....My point was getting a visa from any european countries is pain the you know what...This comes over and over again and I think I have a free right to speak about anyone who disses immigrants. As a moderator, I didn't sign a pledge to keep my opinions to myself..I have to control what happens here but I doubt anyone on this board is saying "oh wantmygcnow said this so I am going to follow him"..Its a free country, free board as well..

One more reason, I detest europeans, because france NEVEr used to accept RTD's, they started to after a while. Also if you ever visit Europe(I lived there for 6 months in 2004), they treat foreigners as piece of you know what.

I would love it if everyone is treated respectfully but thats not the case.

Indian embassy used to give troubles to refugees for visas(wait of over 8 months). My wife is from India, when we were about to get married, they would say wait 8 months for the visa. I threw the application at the face of the consular and said you can take it and shove it up your ass....Doesn't surprise me that they changed the rule shortly after that.

As long we all stay quiet and don't say anything, people will keep on abusing us.

Fine, free forum it is...It is always a useless thing to argue about anything.
Anyway, I was interested in that Indian embassy situation with RTD. I had to go to India in 2004 for the first time, and I had to wait 3 month for the visa (they said its clearance, while in fact it was just sitting in their embassy, which we found out from reliable sources). I had to cancel that trip. Then I was going to India in 2005 and applied again - after 3 months the visa was still not ready, so we had a high-ranked Indian official contact them on my behalf and I got visa the same evening. In 2006 I was going to India again and was prepared for the 3 month- long wait, but it only took them 4 business days this time. How long ago did you go for your wedding? I am trying to figure out when they changed that rule.

Thanks for the update. I think I'm going to ask for mine in Mid April. Do you mean you have a USA green card?

Thanks! I have some questions. When they ask for the "Official itinerary" or airplane ticket, what do they mean by official itinerary? I was thinking summiting that instead of the ticket because I would buy a non-refundable ticket since refundable ones are way too expensive. Which one are you going to summit?

I dunno if you can help with this next one. What if you don't really have a stable job because you are going to be in school next fall? Can I just present a letter from my school stating this? They said if unemployed you have to summit proof of steady income, but I dont really have proof of that since I'm working now and saving all my money for this trip before I start school again.

My last question is.... I want to go to France after being in Spain, do I have to ask for a multiple entry visa? I don't really know how much time I will be in France, so I won't have hotel reservations, plus I'll be staying with a friend. Can I just ask for a single entry, would I be able to travel through Europe with that??
Thank you!

I answer you base on my experience and you can ask others and do as your logic says.

Itinerary as you know is kind of reservation without paying anything toward your ticket. I called Delta and ask them to make one for me with the dates I thought I will be on vacation. Make sure to ask them to Email it to you and then make a print and give it to embassy.

- I think if you do not have s stable job, Ask the school to write you a letter and you are student from this school and the graduation date (2009) and everything in details. Financial wise, you have to show them some sort of source of money for your trip, they ask you for your bank account statment, statmenet of major credit card. I got the statment and ask my bank to write a letter indicating my accounts and date of opening the accounts.
Single entry means that you can enter to schengen teritory only once with that visa. Think all the schengen countries as one country. With one entry you can go to all of them as long as you dont go out of the territory.
I asked for single and she marked two on the form. If you have greencard they are more easy on you. To me since I dont have any relatives to send me an invitation, Hotel reservation is the MUST.
Price of the whole application is reallly stupid. It came out about $150 with postage and other stuff to get together.

I hope I have answered your questions. Let me know if you want to know anything else.

Good Luck

Thanks for your help Nimche. I hope your get your visa soon!! I'm going to apply in the Chicago consulate and they do everything in person, which sucks because I have to drive 9 hours to get there! I just hope I get it.

Ok. I got the Visa yesterday after almost three weeks. this is the result. I have never had any problems with the embassy staff, actually they were nice people but they've never answered the phone.

So Good luck to everyone.

Nas,

I got a visa for Germany too last week. It took them 1 week to issue on a RP. I am visting my family in Germany so they asked for an official affadavit of support from local aliens office..Anyways it was not a problem.

I even called my insurance company and told them that the embassy is asking that I be covered so what they did was they faxed me a letter stating that I am covered even if I am overseas. The Germany embassy at first said No get another insurance but I said its the same...back and forth, finally they said ok we will accept..Saved me another 35 bucks there..

To all, just call your insurance company & every insurance company has "in network" & "out of network" benefits. Basically if you get sick overseas, its out of network benefit and they cover you but you have to pay 100% at the time but they refund you 80%...Dont waste your money on insurance from travelex etc..it is basically the same.
