I grew up in Mexico and lived there when my sons were born, thus having to process them through permanent residence when I moved back to the US. They were awarded their residence in 2001 have been residing in the Us now since 2003 . I have a daughter through a new relationship and was able to get her an American Citizen Born Abroad birth certificate through proving 5 years of physical presence in the US. The problem for my sons is the time proved was after they were born..

What do I need to do to get them their citizenship??

You can start by providing more information. Provide a timeline of events. Start with YOUR birth and where, where you lived all through the years, dates of kids' births and where, ages upon entry into the U.S. in 2001 and on what dates (prior to, on, or after 2/27/01). Are the mother or father and were you married to the other parent when the kids were born or have married after that? What is the status of the other parent? What is your current marital status?
