Hi

Either I am totally mistaken/misled or people are crazy in getting their Citizenship as soon as they are elgible for one. - and dont mind risking their GC or citizenship chance

there has been wars fought in this forum on how soon can one cahnge employers after getting GC (485 approval date)

in Citizenship forum - i saw that they are asking your history for the last 5 years.

even if u had changed ur jobs within a month or so after getting ur 485 approved - why cant one wait for a year or two and then apply for citizenship since looks like INS is only interested in the last 5 years.

if my hypothesis is wrong then - somebody did not tell me that an officer will ask you exactly what you did after ur 485 is approved.

You are right. They only ask your last 5 year employment history. So one can apply after 6 years for the citizenship.
As for the posting that JoeF mentioned, it looks to be suspect ,not just because he did not subscribe to our "no risk" theory, but because i wouldn't believe that some one will register on this forum after he becomes a citizen and participates in our debate. We are looking for answers from some one who has been a member of the forum for years, then became a citizen and then posted here. If we were to believe that every userid represents a different person, then qwerty is different from GCLookup or dsfgh100.

Guys,

I am in a weird position. I am changing my job (same field and similar responsibilities) within 2 months of getting approval. I have already accepted the othet offer. When can it become an issue? Will I face any immediate problems or may be only during citizenship?

Thanks,

your choice: feel good or bad

dude

my take.

it used to be hell before becoming GC- now its going to prolong after u get the GC.

you can come to this or other forums and read it out, get others opinion (if u feel strongly of ur position- vent some of ur anger by fighting it out with other members) and do all kinda stuff.

the truth is - unless ur extrememly unlucky - nothing is going to happen for the next 10 years (if u renew your GC - i dont know for how many other extra 10 year periods).

you situation may change..for example
you could marry soembody here who has a citizenship (or eventually will get one on her merit) and you can jsut apply as her spouse
or
might just find better living in china !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - now that lot of jobs are moving there (hope this does NOT happen)
so i would suggest go relax and just pay all the taxes and try notto be on the wrong side of the law.

give it soem time- 5 year minimum, or 10 -20 -30 years depending on how much scared u are - or how the law changes.....................

well having said that- i know in those free hours that u browse in your home/office computer for news you invariably will click this site and start to feel bad all over again

THATS JUST LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Thanks TheEnquirer for the reply.

This question might come up during green card renewal or only during citizenship?

And you could just win the lottery or get struck by lightning or meet Elvis.

You know make your own reasonable judgements and keep the "advice" of one resident fear monger in perspective.
