Anyone with a walk-in experience of i-EAD in Miami??? my attorney says they have to go with me, but they will charge 1,500 for this. Do they need to go? how long does it take for approval?

Your attorney is trying to rip you off. Show him the finger, and get it yourself. Go to the Miami website, and find out if they accept appointments, and save yourself from the long queues. Otherwise, go in as walk in customer.

I went to Miami on 3/13/03

I went to Miami office on 3/13/03. In fact, I took a chance inspite of local office at Jacksonville advising me that Miami office will not issue I-EAD for other Jurisdication.

On 3/13/03, I reached Miami office at 03:00 am, Security person came and took the name and purpose around 5:30 am. Around 7:30 or so, They started people letting in.

I saw IIO at around 8:15 am, I explained her that "My EAD is pending for more than 90 days, I am here to collect I-EAD". She took my receipt and was about to give me the token and then she realized that my home address is Jacksonville, FL.

She politely refused to give me the token because I am not in there jurisdication.

But, another person who was behind me residing in Miami was given a token. I hope he got I-EAD.

In other words, you don't need Attorney to go along with you.

Hope this answers your questions.

Out of curiousity Sayed, where did you eventually get your iEAD from ? I read in another web site that if you have your EAD application on file at a regional BCIS office, you can practically go to any district or sub office under the jurisdiction of that regional office to get your iEAD. So technically you should have got it anywhere in Florida or even in Georgia. Of course, I cannot say this with any authority.

different experience from

I have another friend from jacksonville who got the interim EAD after 90 day from Miami last week.
I am also aware of another person who got the interim EAD (8 months) ago from jacksonville.
Could you not have said to the IIo that jacksonville refused to give interim EAD and thrown a tantrum??

I went to Jacksonville office after the completion of 90 days i.e. 3/3/03. I was given an appointment for 4/16/03.

Hence I had to go Maimi office. But fortunately. INS approved my regular EAD on 3/14/03 and I received the actual card on 3/24/03.
