Some N-400 questions

Hi people,

Please forgive me if these questions have already been answered some place on this forum. I am getting ready to submit my N400 application based on 3 year marriage to a US citizen. My questions -

1) In Section 8B. Spouses Family Name - Is this my wifes name after marriage or her maiden name?

2) In Section 8B. Spouses Home Address - Is this my wifes current address (where we live together) or her address prior to marriage?

3) In Section 7C. Days out of the US - If you left US on Monday, and returned on Thursday, would I be out of the country for 2,3 or 4 days?

4) I first entered the country when I was 28 years on a non-immigrant visa and got my green card when I was 32. So I assume that I don't need any letter from Selective Service? Or should I request it anyway?

5) When married to the US citizen, it says that you have to submit Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children. My question is - do we have to submit additional proof like joint Utility bills, health insurance letters, photographs, trips taken together, etc. etc.? Similar to what we submitted when we first applied for adjustment of status.

Thanks in advance,
Jac.

The name your wife uses now

2) In Section 8B. Spouses Home Address - Is this my wifes current address (where we live together) or her address prior to marriage?
Your current address

3) In Section 7C. Days out of the US - If you left US on Monday, and returned on Thursday, would I be out of the country for 2,3 or 4 days?
2 days

4) I first entered the country when I was 28 years on a non-immigrant visa and got my green card when I was 32. So I assume that I don't need any letter from Selective Service? Or should I request it anyway?
I'll leave this for the SS experts

You don't need to submit additional items with the N400 but it may be useful to take them to the interview

Thanks in advance,
Jac.

No need for selective service letter since you weren't in US before 26th birthday in a status other than a non-immigrant visa.

Hi McTavish,

Thanks for the response. I got my answer for SS on another thread.

My only dilemma is on Spouses Family Name - when I filed my I-751(Removal of conditions), my lawyer entered her Family Name as her Maiden Name. So am a little confused. Should it be current last name (same as mine) or maiden name?

Anyone with recommendations?

Thanks,
Jake.

I would use the current legal name. If there are other legal names used previously, bring all name change docs to the interview.

ok...two people who feel that this should be the current last name. So I will go with that. Thanks folks!!
