Detail employees are the worst employees. If the USCIS is trying to get work out of detail employees..best of luck. Usually in government agencies, an employee is sent on "detail" for him/her to meet his/her goals that they missed in the past. Most of the detail employees are lazy SOBs and its a way of government not firing people but reassigning them temporarly....We get detail employees all the time at USPS and most of them don't do anything.

It would've been good news if they had hired new adjusters.

Now actually it makes sense as to why most of the ND 2000 and ND 2001 are still waiting...A Detail employee can have a case open forever and say he/she is working on it and trying to get a response from the customer....since they have to meet lofty goals, they try to show that they are working more than others.

In other words, if my case stays with a detailed employee, their duty is extended until the case is finally resolved. Here at USPS, we call detailed employees as on "vacation"...

Oh yes detailed employees are also some employees who are close to retirement. Usually it takes 15-20 years to be in govermnt to get retirment from them..so when an employee is not productive, they send them on detail so they can finally get their rest of years and live happily ever after.

I would love for the USCIS to hire contractors so that the backlog is eliminated in a jiffy...but they wont do that since its matter of security.

Why not? If private contracts have been awarded to Halliburton (Kellog Brown & Root), Boeing and Lockheed Martin to handle other more critical and sensitive security projects, why not the process of conducting background checks and issuing benefits? Do you know that a huge number of prisons in the country are run by private businesses? If you think about it, it is not difficult to see how the private sector would solve the INS problem.

Cheerio

YOu are absolutely right. And when you to get your biometrics etc, all of them are contractors who do that...But the actual "agent" who reviews your case has to be a government employee..I don't know whats it about. Ethics? If you are a contractor, you are working for your company and may adjust more cases?? Idont know..as a govt employee..you don't really have to impress anyone....Its complicated..

It’s called paranoia from ‘visionaries’ like Lou Dobbs, and F. James Sensenbrenner, a.k.a (The Godfathers of Tap Dance) ..ohh girl them boys can tap! yeehaaaw

Could anyone tell me when USCIS' financial year begins and ends?

Thanks.
Based on my knowledge, September 30 of each year marks the end of the fiscal year (for instance, last september, the fiscal year 05 ended and now the O6 has begun).

"By the end of FY 06 the ideas is to get asylum adjustment applications to a maximum six-month processing time."

WOW, so all of us who had applied I-485 are going to get GC by next March (September minus six months).

If that is true, expect this forum to burst with "I got approved" message. :)

That is a dream will never come true ... I think they mean 6 years Not 6 months ... I been reading about INS six months since 2001.

I remember in one of it posts uscis saying that USCIS is going to send RFI to all applicants eligible for adjustement for the fiscal year 2005.Fiscal year 2005 has past and many of us who received RFI still have cases pending. This means, never trust uscis.

dudes..donn't be passimistic..
just think this way that they are least looking at us now..
it was never like that in the past..
they talked about all other categories but never about asylee adjustment..
so just chill for our future fellas....
