some confusion related to reentry permit

I am a GC holder. Due to my mothers serious illness I returned to India 2 years back. I took reentry permit. I havent travelled to US since I returned in Sep 2008.

I have 2 question:

1. When I will fly from India for USA I have to fill an Immigration form for Departure in India. It asks for residency status in India. I am totally confused about it. I am a US permanent resident but I have been in India for 2 years(in India if someone stays for more than 183 days in a year he or she is considered resident else a NRI (non resident Indian)). Technically from Indian immigration point of view will my status be NRI since I am an US permanent resident or resident Indian since have stayed in India for more than 1 year.

2. Do I need to show the reentry permit along with GC to Indian immigration officials and airlines when I am departing from India or just showing GC is sufficient.

I applied for reentry permit before I left. I received reentry permit only in Nov 2008. My Reentry permit expires on 22nd Nov 2010.

I should be able to reneter US till the expiry date on REP isnt it (even though I have been outside US for more than 2 years)?

Yes, you must come back to the US before Nov 22nd.
Show GC only to Indian Immigration and do not provide RP unless asked.
Tell em even though you stayed in India for a while but you are a US resident.

namecheckvictim,

Thanks a lot for your great help. I will do as you say to Indian Immigration.
Should I tick myself as Non resident Indian in Indian Immigration Departure Form?
