When did you and your wife get married? before you got asylum status or after?

You did not answer Mr. Thankful (or Ms. Miss)'s question.

If you are married before your asylum approval, you can file I-750 to adjust her status as derivative. If your asylum application was approved before 02/28/2008, you can file any time; after that date you only have 2 years from the date of approval.

If you are married after, then she does not get any status from you until you become a citizen.

your answer is very confusing. If she were approved for asylum then why is she on opt? This makes no sense.

If she was approved as an asylee then you just take the old ssn number to social security office forthem to change it to unrestricted social security card but the social security number stays the same.
