Social Worker Category as a Mental Health Counselor?

Hi there, I am currently about to apply for OPT. I am a Canadian citizen and I am in a clinical mental health counseling masters program. The duties of many job opportunities are nearly identical to a social worker. The requirements actually either say social work or counseling degree. There is also a shortage in the US of counselors.

Is it a possibility at all to get a TN social worker visa as a mental health counselor? Any other insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
 
I don't see an issue. The DHS will decide in any event. While on OPT you will be able to find out.
Just to clarify however, whether or not there is a shortage has no bearing on getting TN.
