Social Security

Hello,
I am new to the forum and wanted to know if anyone might have had the same issue. I received my EAD 06/22/06. On 06/25/06 I went to the Social Security office and applied for a new number. I am still waiting to receive the number, almost 8 weeks :( . When I called the SSA office they informed me that it is still in pending status. Does anyone know of this processing taking that long? Is there any advice as to what I can do? My AOS interview is in October. Is it going to be an issue that I haven't started working since receiving my EAD?

Thanks all for you help.

Apparently there is still issues with the EAD and SSN in several states, and some are taking extremely longer periods than others. Every SSA office should has a connection with the USCIS database to verify that your EAD is approved and valid and after that you should be done with it and receive in a week your card.

Go to a different SSA office and check that out again. Fill out a new form and all that...like you never have been in a SSA office and see what happens. If they ask you, then you explained well it does not make sense!

Good luck,
