hi
I have worked in the US for about 11 years now as a student and on an H1B visa. I am a citizen of india and a resident of Australia. I am seriously considering moving to Australia permanently. Is is possible to get a refund on the Social Security i have paid before i leave. If not will i ever see a check from them after i retire and if so what procedure i need to follow to make that happen
thanks

No. You will not be able to get a refund from SS Admin. If you retire in Australia, and assuming that SSA is not scraped, you should be able to get some money, when you are 65.

Some countries have arrangements with USA regarding SS. If you were a australian citizen while on H1, you can claim some from SSA through the australian govt. Dont know which arm...
