Social Security Questions

Hey guys,

As an asylee, I had an unrestricted Social Security Card. Now that I am a permanent resident, do I need to notify social security administration about my new status, or will USCIS notify them?

U must take your ss-card to the ss-department and have the restritions removed.

Asylees can get an unrestricted Social Security card that has no "not valid w/out employment authorization" (or whatever the text says) text and means that EADs are not required. At least, this is what my family did.

OP's question was whether Soc Sec Admin has to be notified of the status change from asylee to LPR.

juniorr.. if you read my post carefully, I indicated as an asylee, my SS card did not have any restriction. My question is.. since I am currently a permanent resident ( green card holder)... do I need to notify social security administration or not?
Thanks..

no, couse you are already a permanent resident to them( since you got the unrestricted one)

I know you have to inform social security if you become an American citizen. As far as permanent residence is concerned, I don't know.
