Hi,

I'm kind of confuse here. I'm in US since 3 weeks now in Florida, I understood that when you won at the lottery you don't need to apply for the ssn when you're in US but it's done automatically when you fill all the form before you get the green card in your onw country. Is this correct or I need to apply now in US?
-do i have to fill another paper like an AOS or no?

It's just that the immigration guys at the airport, they seems as confuse as i was so it didn't help.

Thank you

i suggest you go to your local social security office and apply for it. there's no fee.

FYI as an immigrant you don't need to apply for an ssn, is it done automatically when you fill the first papers.
You will received it 3 weeks after your arrival in the US.

Based on information I collected, SS Cards are automatically mailed to approximately 50 % of those who requested SS card in the form sent to KCC. Communication between DOS and SS Office is not good. Perhaps you need to go to local SS office.

My friend already had a SSN card and just needed a new one with no working restrictions but again she needed to get certified copies to sent to the SS office or originals...or better go in person which is the fastest and best way. So far i never met any one who got it sent to their home without visiting...(after 9/11, it all changed)

Not very good advice, this way we there is a good chance he'll never get one. Go to the SSA oofice next to you and apply for a SSN.
