Social Security Number after EAD Approval for my Wife

Hi,

We have applied for 485 and received the EAD for my wife last week. When we went to apply for her Social Security Number we were told by the Social Security office that they were not able to locate her A# in there systems. We had the choice to either put a written request for verification and wait for 60 days or to try back in a week.

All of you friends there who may have run into such situation in the past please give some advice.

Don\'t know if it helps but anyway ; we live in Philadelphia.

This is expected

given the fact that EAD was recieved only one week back. Give them some more time to update their system.

My wife also had same problem where SSA could not varify her A# online so they said that it would take 4 weeks instead of normal 2 weeks and we received her card by the end of 4th week.

Thanks djagran for the input. What we have been told is that SSA would need to verify the information from INS. That does not mean that they will take the application for the SSN and send a card in 4 weeks.

Did you apply for the card and get it or did you sent in for verification? They were not interested in accepting the application for my wife. They were going to only make copies of the EAD and passport and run there checks before doing anything else.

Please clarify. Thanks for the input and help.
