Social and Medicare Question for H1B Transfer

I was on an H1B with Company A for the last 8 months. Last month I moved to company B after they applied for H1 Transfer (Currently in approval process, filed 15 days ago). Company B did not deduct Social Security and Medicare Tax from my paycheck. Is this normal? Am I liable to pay social and medicare right now? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nope it ain't normal. Company B should deduct the taxes. Some companies bear the cost and pay up the back taxes themselves (since it was their mistake, and you may have already spent the money), but ultimately you are responsible to make sure that the right taxes are withheld. Talk to your payroll personnel.
