Is SJC office open on friday?

With 485 approval notice, can one schedule an appointment?

If so, what is the number to call for SJC office?

Or does 485 approval notice serve as an appointment letter?
( I am asking this as i have an infant, too small to leave at day care/friends and trying to avoid going to non-appointment line )

Thanks for any help.

Good luck again for folks waiting for approvals.

There is no Appointment needed for Stamping in SJ

We got our stamping dome sometime in May look for threads under My ID
Just stand in the Appointments line with your approval letter with the additional documentation needed. Like your ADIT photos, Passport, EAD, AP, ID etc and be there early around 6:30 AM. Yes Fridays are open. Monday 5th July may be closed. (dont ask the security guy where to stand) Use your judgement to find out which is the appointments line. it is the line with Few or none people in the morning.

there may be 100 or more people in the non apointment line,

Your approval letter is your appointment document (notice on your approval letter it asks you to go there any day)

Reedo

Check your approval letter for days of week. Mine did not include Friday.

Thanks for the response

I did the stamping before i read the response.
Went in around 6:00 AM.
Stood in the appointment line, the security guy comes over
asks me to show the appointment, says the approval notice is not appointment, to which i countered (politely) the board telling any INS
letter will do.

Unfortunately for me it was a friday ( my wife came from out of town to
do this stamping ) and i had to do it on a day not listed on my approval.
He points this out and says go to regular line.

I think as neeru pointed out SJC has become stricter. I feel they are arbitrary
and have no set clear procedure for this. I saw some folks get through
appointment line with 485 approval notice.

We entered around 8:35 AM. Only one counter operating 485 stamping,
our turn came, sure enough the IIO took a break. Finally around 12:00 noon,
got it done with.

No food, no water from 6:00 AM in the morning. I actually saw the security
guy tap a woman for dozing in the chair and wake her up and chided her
that sleeping is not allowed. ( ok no breathing either...? )

It was a draining process, but no where as painful as the waiting for approval stage....

Waiting for the plastic now.

Well, the approval letter is an appointment letter too but only for the days specified. I have not seen anyone getting thrown out from appointment line on those days. In SJC, if you go for stamping on Friday you may not be allowed to stand in appointment line because the approval letter does not contain Friday as appointment day. I won't blame USCIS guard here... should I.
