Hi All,

Plse post ur stamping experience at the SJC.

Do we need to go early in the morning say 6.00 am for stamping.

How long is the queue and the wait period. We have a kid hence

want to know whether the wait period will be toooo long.

Thanks

My experiance..

Reached INS monetery road at 6:45 am...we have to stand in the appointment/special registeration/interview line which is by the side of the building..not the one in the front.
This line is less than 20 people at any time. No need to take a kid less than 14 yrs of age...I dont have any but that is what my attorney told me. You need to carry your passport/ all AP/ all EAD / approval notices/ 2photos with A# pencilled behind them.
You will let in after strict security..wear shoes that can be taken off...belt off..etc.
first information counter they take all of the docs listed above except passport and give you a token number..we were not..but that is no problem..since they called us by name.
At that time they take forefinger print and 2 signatures.. stamp the passport with the 'red' stamp and tell you that it will be 6-8months for the green card. They prefer thecourtesey copy to the actual apporval notice since they use the same address to mail the green card..if you dont plan on staying at your current address for that long..chose a different address.
we were out by 8:45..so going early helps...did not have to get any leave from office.

Thanks tt tt

Thanks tt tt.

For ur info. It was very useful. We got our passport stamped today. We had a similar experience as urs except abt the photographs. We had taken the photos from Costco which were not as per INS stds and hence had to take another ones.

There was INS photo opposite SJC Office.

Were out by 9.30.

Manishsg,

Questions for you:
1) You didn't have to stand in long regular line instead of it, you stood in short appointment line, right? There was no issue there with security people like you need to show an appointment letter etc to be in that line? If there was, what did you do?

2) After the security check inside suboffice bldg, you have to stand for token line, but for ADIT Processing/Passport stamping, they don't give you token number (this is what I understood from TT TT's reply), please confirm.

3) What time did you go there (INS/CBIS San Jose Sub Office)?

TT TT if you want to chime in for any one of these, please do so.

Will appericate the answers.

answers..

1) Your 485 approval notice (original or courtesey copy ) is the "APPOINTMENT LETTER" for you.

2) I believe the officer in the first window forgot to give us the token number..but I saw that he had attached the token numbers 9 and 10 for me and my wife..so we kept our ears peeled for 9 or 10 ..however the tokens called out increased to 17..18..19..at that time someone called out a mangled version of my name..and I went to that window..a new minutes later the same guy called my wife's name. Ideally I believe ALL get tokens.

3) 6:45 AM..and we were 15th in the appointment line..they let in 5 people from appointment and 5 people from non appointment each time..so we got in by 7:30. Submitted our docs and started to wait by 7:45...processing started at 8:30..were out by 8:45 am.

Hi Manish,
I have a simple question. How long did it take for the entire process. Did you change any job .
If you dont mind can you post your dates of processing.

Details

Hi All,

1. First of all we did not stand in the Appointment Line (probably we made a mistake). There was an Immigration Verification Officer who also had come to check everyones papers and he also did not tell us to stand in the Appointment Line. Well because of that we had to stand longer in COLD. :-(.

2. After u enter there is a rigourous Security Check. After which u have to stand in another short line for token No. This is given to u after they collect ur passport, approval notice and photos.

3. We had to use the token no to go outside for another set of pictures.

4. After some time they call u and get ur FingerPrint and Sign.

5. They collect ur EAD,AP etc.Ask for address for mail for Plastic Card.

6. Tell u to wait for 15 mts.

7. Give back ur passport with info that this is Temporary GC valid for a year and Plastic card will arrive in 6 mths

regards

SJ stamping experience

tt tt & manishsg,

thanks for the answers and details. It helped. The experience we had:

1) Got there by 6:55. 3rd in the appointment line.
2) was in by 7:05...Subofice's entrance checking machine was broken, so come back again for checking after getting the tokens (submitted approval noties and pics there).
3) Our token #s were called though tokens were not given to us.
4) submitted APs, InterimEADs, passports.
5) 10 minutes later were called our names. Got the passports back with ADIT (I551) stamp valid for 12 months. Officer told us that we will be getting our GCs with 6-10 months.
6) Were out by 7:50

Good luck to rest of the folks down here.
