Can anyone tell me since the new ease of passport rules how this affects a Legal Perm. Resident living in the U.S.? My wife is Canadian and we are awaiting her Canadian passport. She does have her I551 card (LPR card / GC) and an original birth certificate and a photo ID, will this suffice for entering Canada?
 
The recent changes in passport requirements are for US Citizens who are re-entering the US. They have nothing to do with the requirements to get into Canada.

All your wife requires to get into Canada is her birth certificate and photo ID.
