Simultaneous filing for I140 and I485

Hello,
I’m particularly interested in the timeframe that allows the spouse of a H-1B holder (which is an H-4 visa-holder) to start working after the simultaneous filing of the I140-I485 for the Green Card under the Reduction in Recruitment alternative in the Vermont office? If we assume that the I140-I485 forms are simultaneously filed in January 2003, approximately when would the spouse be allowed to work afterwards, December 2003, December 2004? Thanks in advance.

15 days.
That's how long it took to get the working permit for my wife after I filed I-140/485 concurrently.

Is that true?

Only 15 days?
I was under the impression that the wait was for several months! I suppose that after obtaining labor certification (which lasts about 45 days), then with the joint I-140 and I-485 filing it would take maybe 30-60 days on average, so that makes it maybe 3-4 months. Wow! It sounds too good to be true!!

I also thought it would take months. But 15 days after I sent the I765 along with the I485,etc, my wife received her Employment Authorization card from the Vermont center. The reciept notice says that it takes about 80 days to process similar cases. I suppose it might take longer.

Would you tell me your MD and ND ?

Would you let me know your MD and ND for concurrent filing in VSC ? I am waiting for the EAD (ND 08/23/02), I filed on 08/13/02.
Hopefully I am as lucky as you.

Thanks.

Notice date 8/21 (received date 8/13)
The card was issued on 8/28.
Let me make a correction here. It took 18 days from the date I sent everything to when we received the card. It just felt shorter when I was preparing for a long wait.
I think you're next:)
Have you checked out the status at the INS phone service?

Thanks ! Hugh

It is helpful and quite encouraging. Seems VSC is not too slow as it always be. I will go check it . Good luck to you too.

I'm doing the same in California, I hope it won't be long.
But I would like to know if you paid for a premium processing of any of the i-140, i-485 papers (I think it is only possible for i-140).
