Simple question. Send application as a certified post? How to track?

I would be sending the application to the lockbox. How would I track this? I know it is is a simple question, just wanting to make sure.

Send it via certified mail? Guess once we receive the receipt, we can track it on the uscis web site? What is the NOA date?

Yes, certified USPS mail allows you to track the delivery of the package. Couriers such as FedEx and UPS also have tracking option available.
Once you have the USCIS receipt number from Notice of Action (NOA which is essentially date they received your application), you can track the progress either online (unreliable) or by talking to an IO.
