OK, here is the situation, as a lot of you did, I applied for Canadian immigration while my I-485 is pending, on April of 2000, I entered Canada by land as a landed immigrant, on entry, the Canadian immigration officers found out that my US immigration application in pending and gave me hell, but, eventually allowed me to land, and informed me that they noted out those info in my file, and I should withdraw my US green card if I want to keep my landed immigrant status. Well, after that, I got my US green card, kept my status OK in Canada since I have an address there, and actually, I am moving to Canada next month to work there, here are my questions:
1- When I apply for the Canadian citizenship, will that issue come up? will they ask me to prove that I surrendered the US green card, or abandoned my green card application? there is no proof that can be seen on my passport that I got the green card, I only have the plastic one, no stamps.
2- Is there any possibility that the Canadian immigration will correspond with the US immigration and reveal my status in Canada? the US has no idea that I got my landed immigrant status in Canada.
3- Anybody has names and addresses for immigration lawyers who can answer that question?
I would appreciate your response.
Thanks:)

ok, they knew about my I-485 because I did something stupid before crossong teh boarders, I stoped and asked a US officer if I have to surrender my I-94 card, so teh officer asked to see my passport, and when they didn\'t see a visa in my passport, they knew right away that I am entering as a landing immigrant, so, they called the Canadian side and informed them, they actually didn\'t even want to let me in, but, I told them that I am not doing anything against the law. and I presented myself assertively, they were very mad though.

Whew ! That must have been close... so the US officer must have
suspected you have a 485 pending and passed it on.
I plan to take out the I-94s from my wife\'s and my passports
so that we can just show them and return back to the US on our
way back. worse come worse we still have valid visas so at
the most will get a new i-94 ..the reason I am for avoiding
that is since my wife has a h4-h1 in progress...so that should
not get affected by the move across the border and back again.

thanks a lot!

The US immigration officer knew clearly that I had a pending I-485 from the I-94 itself that says paroled untill: Indefinite, but, the thing is, when I came back to teh US, they had no idea that I got my Canadian permanent residency, since I have dual citizenships, and the Canadian residency is stamped in my other passport.

I had the quite opposite situation. I landed in Canada through Buffalo in February 2000 right after I submitted my I-485. I went in fine. I had a brand new advance parole. On my way back the US checkpoint guy asked my what I was doing in Canada (apparently after seeing no visa for Canada). I realized that I would not be able to get away by lying. I told him that I went to land there. He sent me upstairs and about 5/6 officers spoke with me for 2 hours. I told them that I had read different guidelines and I spoke with a US Immigration Information Officer whom I asked if I had a Canadian immigration and I go land there with an advance parole will that create any problems for my Adjustment of Status application. Her answer was, "Sir our decision is not based on what you do in another country." The officers at the border could not come up with a decision. Finally they called somewhere and told me, “You are ok to enter for now, but once you have your US greencard, you have to give up the other one." I said that would be fine. Right after that I went to India and on my way back to the US, immigration at Dulles airport asked me the same questions after they pulled up my records and said the same thing. Recently I went for my greencard interview. After everything went fine the officer told me that I had to much papers in my files, she needed some more time to review them and she let me know within 30 to 60 days. Now that my greencard is so uncertain, I would like to ask you guys if things don\'t work out on the US side can I still go back to Canada and live there?
